(YOUR KITCHEN GARDEN LEEK CHOWDER with ham hock and brown butter croutons)
Choosing which restaurants to go to in Portland was hard. I figured I would start with the places that I own cookbooks from. Wildwood was one of those places.
We went in the afternoon around 2 so there would be less people but still lunch to help keep costs down. We sat in the bar as that had the best light(always with the lighting
). We got great one on one attention from the bartender who was also our waiter.
I loved everything about my meal there. I started with the leek and ham chowder which I tried to recreate. That followed by the ham and gruyere pizza which I also made a version of. My husband had the bratwurst sandwich and loved that as well.
I am so lucky this place is no where near me in my daily life. For my dear foodie friends I would eat there as often as I could making me more plump and more broke than I need to be!
If you can’t get to Portland anytime soon you can always get the cookbook, which is titled…surprise, Wildwood.

(HAZELNUT SMOKED BRATWURST SANDWICH-house sauerkraut, dijon, grilled onions and cheddar)

(HAM AND GRUYÈRE CHEESE PIZZA with caramelized onions)

(Baked Chocolate Pudding)

(CARAMEL PINE NUT TART with rosemary honey ice cream and warm apricot-fig compote)

Portland is not too far away for cross border shopping. Thanks for the tip. I may go there someday:D

What kind of prices do you typically see here for lunch? I’m meeting some people next week for my first trip to Portland and thought I might suggest this if it’s reasonable! I love your blogs by the way! Beautiful pictures and I especially like the restaurant reviews.
